What is Dude Finder?
It's a real-time radar for your crew. Create an activity, share a code, and everyone sees each other live on a map. Perfect for festivals, motorbike trips, skiing, hiking — anywhere a group tends to scatter.
Do I need to sign up or create an account?
Nope. No sign-up, no email, no password. You just pick an alias and you're in. Dude Finder uses anonymous accounts — we don't want your life story, just to help you find your mates.
How do I create an activity and invite my crew?
Create an activity (e.g. "Hellfest 2026") and you'll get a private 6-character code. Share it with your crew however you like — WhatsApp, or just shouting it across the campsite. Anyone with the code can join.
How do I join someone else's activity?
Get their 6-character code, type it into the app, and boom — you're on the map with the rest of the group.
Who can see my location? Is it private?
Only the members of the activities you've joined can see you. Never public, never sold. The moment you leave an activity, you vanish from its map.
How do I stop sharing my location?
Flip the switch to OFF any time you want to go off-grid — a toilet break, a nap, whatever. You stay in the group but your location hides until you turn it back on. You can also just leave the activity.
Does it only work at festivals?
Not at all. Festivals are the classic use, but it works anywhere in the world: motorbike routes, ski slopes, hikes, road trips, the beach… if your crew scatters, Dude Finder finds them.
Do I need internet or signal for it to work?
Yes — Dude Finder shares live location through the internet, so you need mobile data or Wi-Fi. In spots with zero coverage, positions update as soon as the signal comes back.
Does it drain my battery?
It uses GPS, so it does use some battery like any maps app. To keep it in check, flip to OFF when you don't need live tracking — your phone will thank you.
What's a meeting point and how do I set one?
It's a shared pin on the map — "Tent 3", "Main Gate", "Car Park" — so everyone knows where to regroup. Drop it on the map and the whole crew sees it.
What's the compass and how do I find a specific dude?
Tap any friend's marker and the live compass points you straight at them, with a buzz when you're getting close. No more "where are you?!" over the phone.
Is it free? What's Dude Finder Pro?
The app is free (with ads). Dude Finder Pro removes the ads and unlocks extra goodies. More on that soon.
How do I delete my data?
In the app:
Settings (⚙) → Danger Zone → Delete my data. It wipes your alias, locations, memberships and notifications for good. Full details on our
